Add a New Direct Mail Creative
To add a new creative, first, you'll set the creative type LeadPost supports 4x6 and 6x9 postcards. Each size is sent with a laminated front by First-Class Mail (processed next business day).
Once you've selected your creative type, you'll give it a name. Then, for the creative design there are three choices.
- Upload HTML
- Use the LeadPost Creative Builder
- Upload a PDF
Use the LeadPost Creative Builder
The Creative Builder is a WYSIWYG editor that allows you to drag and drop elements to design your creative. We typically recommend this for useres who don't have in-house design staff. It will give you of where every element is placed on the resulting PDF.
Upload HTML
Uploading HTML is not as straightforward but, unlike uploading a PDF or using the Creative Builder, it does allow dynamic injection.
With HTML creatives, you will need to create two separate HTML pages: one for the front of the post card and one for the back of the post card.
You can access an HTML template for the front and back your postcard card below:
When HTML creatives are used, all variables are merged into a PDF document and distributed to mail houses in PDF format for mailing.
It is important to note that all images and resources in your HTML file must be hosted on an always-available CDN, such as Amazon S3, as creative generation happens real time and all resources must be available at all times. If you need assistance on hosting images or other resources, please contact us at support@leadpost.com.
Dynamic Injection
Using the LeadPost macro language, you can dynamically inject anything onto the front or the back of your postcards. This includes the visitor's name, address, and images of products or services that the visitor researched on your website.
Upload a PDF
PDF creatives must be submitted as a PDF file with two pages in the PDF file - one for the front of the post card (page 1) and one for the back (page 2). The front of the post card is free form. Both sides of the card must have a 0.25 inch bleed on all sides. The final PDF page size must be 6.5 inches wide and 4.5 inches tall.
The requirements for 6x9 postcards are the same, but the final PDF page size must be 9.5 inches wide and 6.5 inches tall.
When you upload a PDF creative, LeadPost will verify that there are two pages included and that the required bleed area and page size are met.
If your PDF creative that doesn't meet the specification, you'll receive an error message.
Proof Your Creative
Once you successfully upload your PDF creative, you'll see a magnifying glass icon. You can click that to see how your postcard will look when printed to confirm that it looks the way you intended.
The system will automatically load the creative rendered in proof mode. In this mode, the underlying creative will be trimmed, removing the bleed area. Sample address data will be injected under the rear of the card.
You can also snail mail the proof to one or more recipients. Enter their information and click send, and the proofs will be delivered to all recipients.
Once the creative looks right, you'll click the Approved button. Then your creative is ready for use in your direct mail campaigns.
